His dam, Ledgewood Pecora, was a noted show horse and producer. She was sired by Pecos and out of the Brunk mare, Janee. Note how quickly the bottom line goes to the stallion, Charles Reade. The Brunks liked him for trotting speed. He sired not only for Morgans but also had get who went into the Saddlebred breed and he was listed in Wallace's Trotting Horse Registry.
Boy King was a very popular sire, having 229 registered get. Many became noted show horses and breeding horses.
