El Dorado King. Northern California Morgan Horse Club, Inc. 1966 Directory

It is also very interesting to read all the listings. Much information can be gleaned from it.

Morgan's Jubilee Vermont
This nice gelding has another photo at this link, as well as some info on the 'info" icon. Also, take a look at his maternal grandsire, an Arab, and read the info https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rahas about the quality of Arab that Hearst used in his program.

El Dorado King
In the registry volume, his name is spelled Eldorado--all one word.
Bred by Jimmy Smith, CA, he sired 37 registered get. There is a photo at this link.
Some of his get include numerous Bar Bee prefix Morgans (such as Bar-Bee Roman Velvet, sire of Kelsey Kilarney), Viking Coronado, Ella Dee, Little Royce,  and Honey Amber.

Cornella
Bred by Stuart Hazard, she had 3 registered foals. One bred on a ways, but nothing down to today.
There is an action photo at this link.

California Morgans of Yesterday by W. T. Carter. Northern California Morgan Horse Club, Inc. 1966 Directory Part 3

The author of this piece, W. T. Carter, was a premier breeder of very good Morgans. Descendants of his horses are to be found today in many places.

History of the Morgan Horse. Northern California Morgan Horse Club, Inc. 1966 Directory Part 2

These are the next two pages of the directory.

Northern California Morgan Horse Club, Inc. 1966 Directory. Part 1

Today starts something different. Many years ago, back in the very early 1980's, a friend sent me photocopies of every page of the Northern California Morgan Horse Club, Inc.'s 1966 Directory. These are the first pages thereof and the front cover.
Even on these pages, there is a lot of information to be gleaned.

Lippitt Moro Ash. by Barb Fogel. The Morgan Horse Magazine. Feb. 1988

This excellent article by Barb Fogel remains an important read.
This Lippitt stallion may have been small in stature, but he is behind many of today's Morgans.
Written in 1987, all the research for this article was done the old fashioned way--by Post Office mail, phone calls, Registry Volumes, personal knowledge, and some print-outs from the AMHA Registry office.
Barb, you can still be ever so proud of this article.
The cover, below--"The feature sire of The Morgan Horse's first ever Winter Historical Issue, Lippitt Moro Ash (Lippitt Moro x Lippitt Sally Ash), Moro Ash, a product of the legendary breeding program of Robert Lippitt Knight's Green Mountain Stock Farm, is shown here in an AMHA Archives photo, with owner, the late Dr. Alexander Ruthven."

Moro Hill's Morita. The Morgan Horse Magazine. Jan. 1988

Noted Full Lippitt producing mare.

Devan Sean. The Morgan Horse Magazine. Jan 1988

It is interesting to note that Sean's sire, Captain Fillmore, was not bred by Merle Evans, Devan Morgans, but by another Ohio breeder, Louis Nippert.
