Redman. WLJ. 1.15.1943

1936
bred by Hearst Sunical Land & Packing Corp. CA
(Mountcrest Sellman x Red Dot)

Mountcrest Sellman--(Joe Bailey x Kitty E.) 1921, bred by Richard Sellman, TX. sold in utero to Reginald Parsons, Mountcrest Ranch,  CA.
Red Dot--(Pongee Morgan x Rodota) 1928, bred by Roland Hill, CA had 6 registered foals. Her dam was bred by Richard Sellman. Her sire was the good Brunk stallion.

Although he spent much of his life in an area that had few Morgan mares, he sired 62 registered get, and likely many 1/2 Morgans.
Many of his registered get bred on and were important in their own rights.
Just a few of these were:
Blackman--a very important stallion with descendants today
Red Gates--good sire with some good breeding get.
Redman's Bay Boy--sire
Etna--good producing dam w/foals that bred on.
Gayler K.--only two produce but both bred on.
Red Bess--had quite a few foals w/some breeding on.
Redlass--only two produce but one was the important stallion in Wash., Keystone.
Heaven's prefix, none of whom bred on and were likely working ranch geldings for W J Halliday. There were also Heaven's prefix mares.
Kedron Cutty Sark--bred by Ina Ritcher who also had other Kedron prefix Morgans sired by Redman.
Billy Rebel--noted sire of many in Oregon.
Ember Red--dam of 12 foals, many of whom bred on.
Ida Red--dam of 10 foals, many bred on.
Wenonah--dam of 7, many bred on.

His get covered many years and their get went further onwards. California Morgan breeding would have been much poorer without him.

Missouri King WLJ 1.15.43

1938
bred by O Z Parker, Missouri
(Halstead x Belle Wood)

Halstead--(Linsley x Helen S., by Headlight Morgan) 1923, bred by Elmer Brown, Kansas
Just two registered get, both bred on.
Belle Wood x-04899--(Blithewood [TB] x Linsley Belle, by Linsley) 1931, bred by Elmer Brown. Had the one registered foal.

Missouri King had just one registered get, Dixie Dream, bred by A E Swartz, Missouri, 1942. Had one registered foal, did not breed on.

Missouri King:
sold 1940 from Harold Gressens to A E Swartz
1941 from Swartz to CA Ranney,  Southern, Calif.
1944 from Rammey to John Hahn Northern Calif.

I would suspect that he had get from grade Morgan mares, grade horses in general, mares of other breeds, maybe some registered Morgan mares whose foals did not get registered.

I was not even born yet when this stallion was around. But the address in Santa Ana was not far from me.
In the latter 1960's when I was in High School, two sisters down the road from me had two beautiful bay mares that in retrospect had to be Morgans. They were round and broad and had double manes on both sides of their necks, and beautiful heads and round butts.

Bubbles. WLJ 1-15-1943

This mare has an interesting Transfers record--
Dec. 1939, from Jos. R. Brunk to James W. Brunk
March 1941 from James W Brunk to Joseph R Brunk
March 1941 from Joseph R Brunk to J W Dart, Chicago IL
Jan. 1943, from J W Dart to Hugh Logan Glendale, CA
Nov. 1947 from Hugh Logan to Mrs H F Spencer (aka Sid Spencer), Arroyo Grande, CAH

So many questions: what was going on in the Brunk family? How did a Californian hook up with a mare in Illinois? This ad was from the Jan. 15, 1943 issue of Western Livestock Journal, so who was Munson's and why is he not on any transfer record?

Bubbles was foaled in April 1943, bred by Jos. R Brunk. She had a total of 14 foals.
She was by the Jubilee King son Juzan and out of Aleada, so was pure Brunk.

Her foaling record:
