Same photo, but B/W is from TMH
Color is from the AllBreed site
Yes, he does have some Saddlebred behind him. His paternal great-grand sire was the infamous Saddlebred, Upwey King Peavine. He also gets Saddlebred from his three crosses to Bennington, who was out of the Saddlebred, Mrs. Culvers. But most of the rest of his pedigree was Old Vermont High Percent. Carolyn is twice in Donlyn's pedigree; although she does have a cross to a Standardbred, the rest of her pedigree was High Percent. The mares Ruth and Artemisia were both also Old Vermont High Percent. The Gov't Farm did a good thing crossing the Old Vermont High Percent mares to their lesser percent stallions. Then there is Troubadour of Willowmoor whose dam was Old Vermont High Percent. His sire, Troubadour, was a son of Jubilee de Jarnette who became so important in J C Brunk's breeding. The dam of Troubadour had lines to Black Hawk and lines to Trotters (the Standardbred name and registry did not yet exist. The Trotters were the ancestors there of.)
Looking at Donlyn, it would seem that the High Percent ancestors dominated.
He sired 106 get. Many of them bred on and there are lines to today.
