We are about to embark on a long journey. We are going to delve deeply into the next issue of TMH from 1982. It is a huge issue of 432 pages plus the covers, inside and outside. After some hours of work, I have 167 scans.
Some of the stallions we will see have few if any descendants today. So why am I showing these?—It is interesting to see what there was back all those years ago. Much can be learned by looking at close relatives of horses who are behind the horses of today; by seeing enough of the different lines, one can understand better the horse in front of you now. And for some of us, it is simply a trip down memory lane.
Some of the photos used in ads could have been better. But apparently it suited the people associated with those horses. Some of these feature lines that some of us chose not to use and prefer to stay away from now. But, it is important to see these, to see the pathway from one look to another look.
And so, we begin, a long visit back to a time just over 40 years ago.
