Debacon Dainty Benn. The Morgan Horse Magazine, 1967

His pedigree was mostly the Old Midwest Family, with some Brunk and some Western Working Family.

King Kookie. The Morgan Horse Magazine, 1967

Sire of 14 registered get.
Many of his get bred on a ways.
But his daughter, Heathwold Rainsong, is the paternal grand dam of Pittridge Shonda, who was dam for Kells Morgans and was dam of that good and prolific sire, Kells In Kirbys Honor.
{I have wondered if King Kookie was named for the popular character of Kookie on the TV show, 77 Sunset Strip. Who remembers the hit song, "Kookie, Kookie lend me your comb"? I was still very young but watched that show, although my favorite character was the one played by Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. }

Kings River Morgan. The Morgan Horse Magazine. mid-1960's

Kings River Morgan had a pedigree from the early California breeders. He was bred by WT Carter of Sanger and Fresno Calif. Carter bred many Morgans that were valued by other Morgan folk,  breeders, showers, ranch use, pleasure riding. His horses can be found back there in pedigrees of today.
Kings River Morgan's sire, Gold Dollar, was bred by LW Rutledge of Parlier, Calif. which was in the general Sanger/Fresno area. Gold Dollar became a premier sire for Carter. The sire of Gold Dollar, Blackhaux, was bred by Duval Williams of the same east side of the San Joaquin Valley as Carter and Rutledge. Both parents of Blackhaux were bred by Richard Sellman of Texas and were sold to California. Gold Dollar's dam, Leora, was bred by Roland Hill, at his ranch near Bakersfield, Calif, which is south of Fresno a ways. Leora's sire was the Gov't bred Querido and her dam was a Sellman mare.
The dam of Kings River Morgan was Iva Sonfield, by Sonfield. Iva Sonfield was out of a mare, Iva, by Querido. Iva was out of a mare bred by Roland Hill whose dam was a Sellman mare.
Thus, almost every part of Kings River's pedigree was either from the Gov't Farm or back to Richard Sellman. The one exception is Pat Allen, a Brunk bred used by Roland Hill to sire the dam of Iva.

His name came from the Kings River which flows out of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and down through the Fresno/Sanger area. It is a notable river in that area and still flows today providing irrigation water to farms in the San Joaquin Valley.
Besides Kings River Morgan's accomplishments noted above, he also went on to win California's Feather River Endurance Race in which the horses gallop several miles and also swim across the Feather River. It was open to all comers and was a popular race for many years.
Kings River Morgan sired 103 registered get and an uncounted number of 1/2 Morgans.
Many of his get went into breeding with some having lines to today. One of his sons is Farceur Morgan who sired 70 get, many for the Hazelwood family with lines to today.
