Bred by Ernest McElhinney, Morning Sun, Iowa, a breeder who bred some good ones that did well showing and breeding.

Bred by O`Neill Morgan Horse Farm Registered Morgan progeny: 29 colts, 26 fillies. Big John was 16 hands and had lots of body. He had a plain head, his get were big smooth bodied horses with plain heads and lots of trot.
