Skagit Vashon. The Morgan horse Magazine. circa early 1950s

This horse had a lovely Western Working Family pedigree.
His paternal grandsire, Lobo, was intensely inbred Brunk with double Jubilee King.
His paternal grand dam, Highwood L, was bred in Montana from pure Thomas Adams breeding. Adams was a breeder of good Morgans early on in Montana, breeding for ranch use.
His dam, Indian Summer, was bred at the U S Range Station, Miles City, Montana. Her sire was from the US Gov't Farm in Vermont; Monterey sired some useful ranch horses. Her dam was also bred at Miles City and was by the Gov't stallion, Revere, who later went to Nevada. On the very bottom mare line, Emalu was bred by Richard Sellman, foaled 1925 which was his last foal crop. She was sold to the Miles City station after Sellman's passing.
Skagit Vashon had only 8 registered get. Some bred on to one extent or another.
