Influence of the Old Midwest Blood on the Western Working Family, by Merideth Sears. The Morgan Horse Magazine, August 2002

This in-depth article is a very important read.
Way back in the day, when I was starting in Morgans, I was told that the Morgans from the old Midwest stock were "no good because they lacked true Morgan type." I never found this to be true at all. Photos like the ones in this article certainly show some typey Morgans.
The Old Midwest Family had a definite influence in the Western Working Family, which was something that I saw in the research I did that led me to define the WWF back in the mid-1980's. This article goes into much more depth on this subject Than I was able to do in my article.
This is an article that all breeders should keep to re-read.
