Blythewood Vermont Legend. The Morgan Horse Magazine. Nov. 2001

He sired a few but I do not think anything bred on.
His sire was out of a Lippitt mare that I saw many times here in California after she moved here. She was a solid, deep mare. Damon Ashmore, the paternal grandsire of Legend, was bred by Francis Bryant of her tried-and-true stock. Damon was a full brother to Dolly Ashmore who was the dam of my Clarion of Quietude. These were all darn good Morgans.
Then we have Dunham Lucky Legend, dam of Vermont Legend. Lucky came to California to live with me after being with Kathy in NJ. She was a lovely mare, deep-bodied, solid, correct. And to my great dismay, she died of a uterine artery rupture giving birth to her colt here. That broke my heart.
Lucky's sire was from Eve Oakley's Caven-Glo Morgans and was the result of Eve breeding her two great foundation horses to each other. Lucky's dam was double Easter Vermont, being inbred to that great son of Red Vermont. Lucky had an awesome pedigree and was an awesome special mare.
