The Statesman was 50% Lippitt as each parent was 1/2 Lippitt. His sire was by the Gov't stallion, Mansfield and out of a Lippitt mare.
His dam, Major's Lass, was line bred to Cornwallis, being sired by a son of his and out of a granddaughter of his. The rest of her pedigree was Gov't and some interesting Old Vermont.
The Statesman sired many good ones for Statesman Farm and others. His line continues today.
