Salus had a royal pedigree with a California sire. Her dam was sired by Whippoorwill Duke. Salus's dam was Brunk but with a sire line to the very good Plains King, bred by the Heibert Bros. in Kansas from Elmer Brown stock.
Salus was dam of many good Whippoorwill and Mossrose prefix horses.
Below is a phot of Whippoorwill Calisto, all grown up. Photo is from the AllBreed site.
Out of Salus, her sire was Whippoorwill Newmoon, a prolific sire for many programs. He was sired by Blackwood Correll by Red Correll, a beautiful and noted sire.
The dam of Newmoon was by Whippoorwill Duke and out of a mare going to good Kansas breeding.
Calisto was dam for Matton, Springlake, and Whippoorwill.
This photo shows me an absolutely lovely and correct Morgan mare.
