Upper from The Morgan Horse Magazine
Lower from the All Breed site.
Bred by Wallace Mills, Hay Springs, Neb.
Mills bred some good Morgans from his home in NW Neb.
He was also the breeder of Blackwood's dam. The dam of that dam was bred by Elmer Brown, Kansas, who was a cornerstone of the Western Working Family. Note that the sire of Blackwood, Red Correll, was also the sire of Blackwood's maternal grand sire, thus making Blackwood line bred to Red Correll. Red Correll was sired by Will Rogers who as pure Old Midwest Family with line breeding to Winterset, that lovely and typey Morgan. The dam of Red Correll was an Elmer Brown bred mare sired by Romanesque, who sired ever so many for Brown. The paternal grand dam of Blackwood's dam had Gov't, Old Midwest, and Brunk behind her.
Blackwood had a solid pedigree of Morgans bred to work.
Blackwood sired 60 registered get, some for Triple S Morgans and other Nebraska breeders, and some for Whippoorwill and other Eastern breeders.
He has lines down to today.
