Sissey, Californio's dam, was Western Working Family and owed a lot to the US Gov't program; Gay Mac, Sonfield, Querido, and Red Oak all came from that program. The first three went to California to play an important part in the early California breeding. Red Oak went to Richard Sellman in Texas; his daughters went to Roland Hill in California. Roboss who appears twice in the 3rd generation of Sissey, was a Sellman bred mare.
Tio Lalo, https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/tio+lalo , was bred in California. There is a photo and some info at this link. Tio Lalo's sire brings in another cross to Querido and Sonfield and Sellman mare. Palomesa, also bred in California, gives some different lines and also was a palomino as was Tio Lalo. Her dam, Baby O, was by the good sire from the Old Midwest Family, Will Rogers. The dam of Baby O was also a California bred mare, and sired by the Brunk Pat Allen who came west, and out of a Sellman mare. The sire of Palomes dam Midnite Sun, was a palomino and bred in California by Merle Little who did so much for Morgans in California. Midnite Sun's sire was Sundown Morgan who was bred by F A Fickert of Tehachapi CA and was the first breeder who brought over horses from Richard Sellman, Texas. The dam of Midnite Sun, Dawnglo, was bred by the L U Sheep Ranch, WY who bred Morgans to work their ranch and sold many to other breeders. Dawnglo was also palomino.
Californio sired 54 registered Morgans.
One Californio descendant is Laura Behning's Coral Forest who is inbred to Californio being by a son of his bred to a granddaughter of his. That son of Californio was World's Edge Goldoak who sired many for many breeders. World's Edge Goldhawk also sired many for different breeders.
A Californio daughter, Whippoorwill Salus has been dam of many good Morgans. Various Tia prefix daughters of Californio have bred on. Juan Bravo, another Californio son, sired Primavera Regalo who sired more good ones that bred on.
There have been others from Californio and his get that bred on to one extent or another.
