Waer's Play Boy. The Morgan Horse Magazine, March 1971

Bottom photo from the AllBreed site, from a TMH, unspecified.

His dam was the Gov't Farm mare chosen by Mr Rex and Freida (to become Waer) for their breeding. After the death of Mr Rex, Freida kept the mare and she became an important mare for the Waer program.

Hedlite's Micky Waer was the sire of Play Boy.
Breeder: Mary H Smith. Top stallion on the west coast in the 1960s, winning Get of Sire classes. Owned by Howard Splane of Midnight Morgans, OR. Later owned by Eugene Van Dyke of Beaver State Morgans of Forest Grove, OR. Used by Frank and Frieda Waer of CA for their breeding program. Also used by James Cagney for breeding.
The above copied from the AllBreed site.
His sire's (Waer's Black Rascal) top line goes back to Major R M bred by Elmer Brown, Kansas. The other 3/4 of that pedigree is all Brunk.
The dam of Micky Waer was all old California.

Play Boy sired over 100 registered get. Many of these carried the Waer's prefix. Some others were: Francis Lizita; Raya de Luna; Richlou Adonis.
It is a shame that more of his blood does not come to today.
