Paramount Ambassador. The Morgan Horse Magazine, May 1971

It is worth taking a look at the mare side of this horse--
Foaled in 1924 and bred by R L Berry & Sons of Vt., Berry's Bess brings in some good Old Vermont lines, some of it High Percent and some not so much. The Berrys bred some good Morgans and I suspect that not all of them were registered. But some of what they did does come down to us today.
Cecil I, the sire of Bess, was pure High Percent Old Vermont with many of the same horses found behind the Lippitt Foundation horses. Black Bess, dam of Cecil I, brings in the good Morrill lines, and some more High Percent from her maternal grand dam and the dam of her maternal grand dam. and yet more behind the mare by Stanton Horse behind Flying Morrill. There is a lot of Justin Morgan behind Black Bess which overwhelms the one cross to the Standardbred.
Belle, the dam of Berry's Bess, brings in more of the High Percent Old Vermont along with another line to Morrill.
Along with Quietude, the dam of Upwey Ben Don, and Artemisia, the dam of Mansfield, Berry's Bess brings in strong High Percent Old Vermont breeding strength.
Paramount Ambassador was sire of 130 registered get.
Take a look at his progeny listing on the AllBreed site--
Most of these bred on to one extent or another and many have lines to today.
