This is the article that saved the gray color for the breed. When I set out to research this, I had no idea what would happen. This article started from my own curiosity. Carol Guay was very generous with her time and correspondence with me. When she realized that she had the last known living breedable gray Morgan, she set out to breed the mare again. The results were two gray colts (CW's Silver Ash by Hillside Stoney Ash, and CW's Sterling Silver by Todita) who are the source of most of our grays today. Later, the other gray mare was found and brought back to the breed to give us the Saycrest Frosty Miss line.
