Silver Dan was sired by Sparbeau who was bred by Elmer Brown, Kansas. Sparbeau was sold to Roland Hill, CA. and sired for Hill for some time. The dam of Dawn Melody was Shawnee, a Roland Hill bred, sired by Sonfield and out of another Hill bred mare who was sired by Querido and out of a Richard Sellman mare.
