One of the horses in the train load from the ranch in Kansas to Rhode Island.

Sir Linsley--(Linsley x Sparta, by Sparhawk) 1926, bred by Elmer Brown, Kan. sire.

Maud R.--(Rockwood x Linsley Belle who was by Linsley & out of Donbelle) 1929, bred by Brown. Had only 1 registered foal.

Silver's Gal--(Silver Ranger x Silver Babe) This was a sire to daughter mating. 1939, Thornhill, TX. had 6 registered foals.

Silver Babe--(Silver Ranger x Baby Dix) 1937, bred by Thornhill, Tx. had 10 registered foals.

Baby Dix--(Dixie x Dan's Baby) 1935, Thornhill, TX had 12 registered foals.

Adlyndra--(Raymond S Sentney x Silverlyn) 1947, bred by Theis. Had 11 foals.

Raymond S Sentney--(Chocolate x Skiner) 1942, bred by Thornhill, Tx. sire.

Chocolate--(Linsley x Lady Spar, by Sparhawk) 1923, bred by Elmer Brown. good sire of many.

Silverlyn--(Silver Ranger x Danlyn) 1940, Thornhill, Tx. had 7 registered foals.

Silver Ranger--(Querido x Angelina) 1932, bred by Roland Hill, Calif. sire of many.

A complex and wonderful pedigree from the good Kansas breeders and Thornhill of Texas. Thornhill listed his town as Miami, Texas. Today's map shows that Miami is the only town in that county which also contains 3 highways passing through. The rest of the county, as is much of the northern Texas panhandle, is a whole bunch of nothing--typical high plains grassland ranch country. All the breeders behind this mare were breeding for tough, using, working Morgans.

Texas Lyn was another in the train load that Cecil Ferguson bought when the Theis Ranch had to sell their entire herd of Morgans. These Morgans brought to New England valuable new bloodlines and solid working horses.

The photo is Upwey King Benn.

His sire was Upwey King Peavine, a Saddlebred who by some means got registered as a Morgan. King Benn's dam was the Government Farm mare Audrey, sired by Bennington but out of the Old Vermont mare Carolyn, who was by Ethan Woodbury 6823 by Ethan Allen 3rd 3987 by Peters' Ethan Allen 2nd 406. Carolyn's dam was Carrie by Billy by Warwick by Allen Wilkes. Carolyn's 2nd dam was by Ethan Allen 3rd 3987. Carolyn's 3rd dam was by Black Morgan 810 and out of a mare by Amis Bemis Horse 685 by Billy Root 9.

Colonel's Boy--(Cornwallis x Gill) 1938, bred by Charles Allen, NY. good sire of many. In 1941, he was transferred from Allen in NY to the Chilocco School in OK.

Rachel Lee--(Allen Lee x Racher) 1941, bred by Chilocco. Had 9 registered foals.

Allen Lee--(Jubilee King x Allestra) 1933, bred by J C Brunk. good sire.

Allestra--(Go Hawk x Mrs. Lewis, by Charles Reade) 1928, J C Brunk. Had 7 registered foals.

Rachel--(Silver Ranger x Dan's Bess) 1937, bred by WP Thornhill, Tx. had 7 registered foals.

Thornhill bred a bunch of good Morgans that went into other breeding programs. We owe him thanks for what he did and that during the Depression years, he registered his Morgans.
