Mentor. The Morgan Horse Magazine. 1950

Mentor
Sire of 84 get. He was inbred to Mansfield, being by a son of that horse and out of a mare who was a granddaughter of that same horse.
Of interest is this quote from the info on AllBreed--"Trotted, but preferred to pace."  Is this true? can anyone add to this?
His son Stellar went on to become a sire of note in the west, having numerous get and used in the Mary-Mels program of soft-gaited Morgans.
Riviera, a good show mare, had only 1 colt who was gelded.
