Bred by Fran Kellstrom of Modesto, CA, his sire was the prolific sire, Dapper Dan, who was bred by that excellent breeder, J. Clark Bromiley, of Sonora, CA. Dapper Dan's sire was Trilson, also bred by Bromiley. Trilson's sire, Katrilan, was bred by the Hearst Ranch of a Gov't stallion and out of a Roland Hill mare. The dam of Katrilan's dam was also Roland Hill bred. The dam of Trilson was another Roland Hill mare, out of yet another Roland Hill mare. The mare lines of Hill's mares go back to Richard Sellman's stock.
The dam of Dapper Dan was Bess Gates, bred by Clarence Reed, So. Calif. He was breeding for his working cattle ranch in the Orange Co. hills. Her dam was a Roland Hill bred mare.
Kellfleet's dam, Falene, was bred by the Jackson Ranch, WY. With Fleetfield, Ken Carmen, Delbert, and Chief Bugler behind her, she has a royal working Morgan pedigree.
Kellfleet certainly honestly came to his working ability from his pedigree.
He was owned by Mary Lasater, of Cedaredge CO. which was in western Colorado. She needed a tough, sensible, working horse for the rugged terrain of that area.
Kellfleet sired 59 registered get.
Many had Lasater's prefix of Royal; some carried the Solita prefix; and there were others.
Does he come down to today?
